On attache a une surface riemannienne de diamètre grand comparé à son aire et à sa courbure un graphe qui l’approche au sens de Hausdorff-Gromov. Ceci fournit une compactification grossière de l’espace des surfaces à courbure et aire bornées. Dans le cas particulier des surfaces à courbure -1, on obtient une sorte de squelette métrique de l’espace des modules.

A graph is attached to a Riemannian surface whose diameter is large compared to its curvature and area. This yields a coarse compactification of the space of surfaces with bounded area and curvature. For constant curvature -1 surfaces, this represents a kind of metric skeleton of the moduli space.
