Dempster (1966) defines two sampling models which he labels structures of the first and second types. In this paper we consider the application of the type one model to the problem of finding upper and lower posterior probabilities when sampling from discrete univariate distributions whose suppower consists of the set of noinnegative integers. Specific results are obtained for the Poisson and geometric distributions.
