We characterize proper holomorphic self-mappings 𝔾₂ → 𝔾₂ for the symmetrized bidisc 𝔾₂ = {(λ₁+λ₂,λ₁λ₂): |λ₁|,|λ₂| < 1} ⊂ ℂ².
