Mineralogical and petrographic studies on the epidotized monzogabbro outcrop observed at Canzoccoli (Predazzo) are reported. The clinopyroxenes of the monzogabbro are chloritized, the feldspars are rounded and enclosed in a chlorite-calcite-epidote matrix. The epidote is also enriched in veins or in big lenticular masses. The optical and crystal-chemical study defines the epidote as a Ps = 24% term. The colour of the epidote mineral tends to darker tones the higher the Fe-content. A genetic mechanism of the monzogabbro transformation in hydrothermal conditions is discussed.
