Si considera il moto prodotto in un liquido lievemente viscoso da una cavità di forma approssimativamente sferica e di raggio variabile. La parete della cavità è descritta in termini di uno sviluppo in armoniche sferiche i cui coefficienti sono funzioni del tempo. Nella ipotesi di piccola distorsione della forma sferica si deriva una equazione di moto linearizzata per tali quantità e si discutono varie caratteristiche del risultato ottenuto.
