Rinvenimento di Cenomaniano superiore a Alveolinidae in Sardegna e sue affinità paleobiogeografiche

Résumé

For the first time at Erula (Anglona, Sardinia) in a neritic limestone Cisalveolina fraasi (Gümbel) and Praealveolina cretacea tenuis Reichel have been found combined with a rich microfauna containing elements typical of the Upper Cretaceous of peninsular Italy, Yugoslavia, North Africa and Lebanon. The new paleogeographic problems created by this discovery are still not clear; they could be studied on the basis of the extension of the Cenomanian transgression in the whole Mediterranean area, which would have wiped out the faunal endemism established earlier, in the Valanginian-Barremian (assemblage with Valserina, Paleodìctyoconus arabicus and Orbitolinopsis capuensis), which emerged again later in the Santonian.
