Esterase 6 polymorphism has been studied in Drosophila melanogaster wild populations. By acrilamide gel electrophoresis six different allozymes have been identified. The frequency and the distribution of the alleles were studied by sampling in different years and in different places: annual and geographical differences were found. The analysis of the same population from August to October has shown a seasonal trend: the inbreeding coefficient decreases with time and equilibrium values are obtained only in late autumn. These results are discussed on the basis of Drosophila populations structure.
