Some different formulations, in the frame of general Relativity, of theories involving forces deriving from a scalar potential are examined. In particular a comparison is made of some of scalar forces as they result in a recent study carried on by us of the motion of a particle subject to the action of an "external" scalar field with those of the gravitation theory developed by Brans and Dicke and with those of an unified theory recently proposed by Dirac.
